I make my pesto and freeze all the time, no problem. Make sure the basil is thoroughly cleaned, of course, and will freeze any problems. Botulism results in oil house, because it can be a breeding ground for bacteria if not properly prepared. (Household vinegar works well, but because the vinegar acts as a preservative).
I do it all the time and I'm still alive. I skip the flavored oils, Tho '.
Perhaps what you should do is freeze the basil pesto and do what you need. When the oil is frozen, I do not see how they enhance the botulism, but they know. Just chop and add enough oil to pasta with pesto and Ice Cube Trays, do when frozen transfer and the date of the Ziploc bag. Good luck.
